Yes. Any decking material will warm up in direct sunlight. PVC decking generally stays cooler than composite because it absorbs less heat overall. Lighter colors also stay cooler than darker colors, regardless of the material. If your deck receives full sun throughout the day, we can recommend products and colors that improve comfort for bare feet, children, and pets.

We inspect the existing deck frame during our site visit to determine whether it can be reused. If the framing is structurally sound, resurfacing may be an option. Most decks require a building permit from the City of Edmonton.
